A Coram building that has been an eyesore for more than a decade is finally coming down.
Demolition began today on the former United Artists Theater on Route 112 in Coram.
The Coram Civic Association joined forces with the Community Development Corporation of Long Island, Conifer Realty and the Town of Brookhaven to develop Wincoram Commons.
The $50 million project will include a mix of retail and housing. It is expected to be finished in two years.
Once demolition is completed, a groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to take place next month.
