In Suffolk, the races for county Legislature are drawing the most attention, with all 18 seats up for grabs.

Democrats in Smithtown are hoping they might be able to capture the supervisor's seat in what's been a rock-solid Republican town for years.

In Brookhaven, Suffolk's largest town, Democratic candidate Vivian Viloria-Fisher is hoping to win the supervisor's job.

This year, Democrats dominated the county Legislature with a 13-5 majority. There are several vacant seats, and the party hopes to hold onto that majority.
