Deli workers in Wading River made a potentially explosive discovery in a parking lot Tuesday morning.
The owner of the deli in the Little Bay shopping center on Route 25A says his employees saw an SUV parked in the lot with rocket launchers inside.
?Everybody was a little nervous and scared and moved their cars immediately, afraid it would blow up or shoot something,? deli owner Tom Fallica says.
Police blocked off the lot and eventually found the owner of the SUV.
?The owner of the vehicle did show up and confirm[ed] that they were Vietnam-era inert rockets,? Riverhead Police Sgt. Tim Palmer says.
The owner told News 12 Long Island that he was taking the inactive rocket launchers to a paint specialist.
Police say there was never any danger to the public. Suffolk police took the rocket launchers into custody.
