The Department of Environmental Conservation says none of the 16 chemical drums recently dug up at Bethpage Community Park have leaked.

However, the agency says samples from the soil and drums did test positive for contaminants that have been found at the former Northrop Grumman dumping site over the years.

Two other potential objects that have been detected below the park also still need to be dug up.

Northrop Grumman is handling the cleanup at the park.

The DEC says it is working with the Town of Oyster Bay and the Environmental Protection Agency to expedite the cleanup so residents can use the park.
