A plan to put video gambling machines at Belmont Park appears to be off.
As News 12 reported, there has been strong opposition to a Nassau mini-casino.
The new agreement being discussed in Albany would transfer authority to install more slot machines at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, instead of at Belmont Park in Elmont.
If approved, millions of dollars would be given to Nassau County over the first three years.
The proposed plan would be included as part of a state budget deal lawmakers are negotiating at the state capital.
The move is a win for community leaders who have been fighting the proposal for months.
