The Cyclone is back in business.

The city’s Department of Buildings says it passed inspection this morning and has been returned to safe working service.

It says the inspector will “remain on site” today to monitor operations.

News 12 reported last month that the roller coaster was evacuated mid-ride due to a crack in the chain sprocket, which forced officials to stop the coaster and remove all passengers.

"We passed, everyone worked very, very hard to open. We're super excited to welcome guests," said Alessandro Zamperla, President and CEO of Central Amusement International, the company that runs Luna Park.

Excited riders wasted no time getting back on the historic coaster. Christian Scalercio, a longtime fan, said, "We can ride this thing 10 times in a row. It's just so exhilarating."

Among the first to ride after it reopened were Todd and Nathan Calaway, who traveled from Ohio.

"I've ridden 50 coasters in 2024," Nathan said.

Luna Park was issued to violations for failure to maintain due to a cracked sprocket and failure to notify the DOB of the incident.

Luna Park sent out a news release this morning that stated in part, “Following a brief closure for maintenance, this beloved American treasure is ready to once again deliver heart-pounding thrills to visitors from around the globe.”

The Cyclone debuted on June 26, 1927.
