Gov. Andrew Cuomo helped demonstrate the importance of avoiding travel during the storm as he helped a stranded motorist Saturday afternoon.
The governor's office said Cuomo helped a driver who got stuck on the Cross Island Parkway.
Photos released by the governor's office showed him attaching a cord to a white vehicle on the roadway that had apparently spun out.
The governor was on Long Island earlier in the day to announce a travel ban on the LIE and a suspension of all service on the LIRR. The travel bans were issued due to dangerous conditions from the snowstorm.
