Gov. Andrew Cuomo responded to critics who are against his plan to restructure LIPA.
Cuomo, who was at SUNY Old Westbury, says the plan to overhaul the power authority is the best one moving forward.
"LIPA is gone once and for all," Cuomo said. "We have a qualified provider coming in. They're going to be responsible. There will be oversight by the state. But more than anything, we have a competent provider providing the service. LIPA was never supposed to be a utility provider."
Cuomo also mentioned a possible two-year rate freeze for LIPA customers.
