A car burst into flames in a driveway and quickly spread to a garage and home in Nassau County.
The Valley Stream Fire Department responded to the scene on Albermarle Avenue around 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Fire officials tell News 12 the closest available fire hydrant was buried under snow when they arrived.
Nassau police officers assisted members with clearing the snow before they could hook up.
Despite the delay, crews were able to quickly knock down the flames with minimal extension to the house.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters continue to remind residents to clear their hydrants, saying “seconds count in a fire.”
