Police: 2 people injured in Robert Moses Causeway crash, driver wanted for fleeing scene

A Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound in the right lane of the highway when it was struck from behind by a Subaru, police say.

Police are searching for a driver they say fled the scene following a two-vehicle crash on the Robert Moses Causeway in the Town of Islip on Thursday night.
New York State police say the crash happened at 9:40 p.m.
A Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound in the right lane of the highway when it was struck from behind by a Subaru traveling at a high rate of speed, police say. The Jeep then overturned.
Police say the Subaru came to rest on the right shoulder of the road and burst into flames.
The operator of the Subaru fled the scene on foot, according to authorities.
Both occupants of the Jeep were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.
