Hundreds of Long Island residents are coming together in Hempstead to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The 33rd annual MLK Day March Celebration is co-hosted by the village and Hofstra University. Organizers say it is all about honoring King’s message of unity and peace.
"I think the message is relevant now as ever in the sense of, how are we treating those who are most vulnerable in our society? How are we welcoming neighbors and strangers? And how can we make our society more just and more equal in this current time?” says Cornell Craig, with Hofstra.
News 12 is told this is Long Island's longest-running parade held in honor of King.
