A swastika was found painted on an abandoned building in East Northport, according to authorities.
The symbol and a profanity were spray-painted on the front wall of a former Rite Aid pharmacy on Larkfield Road.
Police tell News 12 that they received multiple calls about the incident.
Area residents say they are saddened and shocked to hear the graffiti was found in their community.
"I think it's terrible. What's going on in the world? There should be love. I don't care what color you are, what nationality you are, just be a good person,” said one resident.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the police.
