The Glen Head teen killed in a Glenwood Landing crash Friday morning was awaiting trial in the beating death of his roommate.
Police say 19-year-old Quentin Capobianco's SUV began to slide off the road before slamming into a utility pole. The crash happened about a mile and a half from his family's house in Glen Cove.
As News 12 reported last year, Capobianco was arrested in the death of his roommate in Astoria, Queens. Officials had said Capobianco beat Hofstra Law School graduate Jesse Smith, then 29 years old, to death with a hammer.
Capobianco was due in court April 13.
A 20-year-old passenger was also injured in the crash, but is expected to survive.
