COVID-19 pop-up vaccination centers are still active in Connecticut as Moderna applies for a second booster authorization with the FDA.
Cases are down in Connecticut following the most recent wave of the Omicron strain.
Still, Moderna has applied for authorization on a fourth shot of their COVID-19 vaccine for those 18 and older.
The second booster would be intended by those who have had their initial two doses of the vaccine followed by a booster dose of any of the approved vaccines.
The FDA would need to amend Moderna's emergency use authorization of the vaccine to allow a fourth shot.
Moderna stated in a news release that, "its request is based partly on recent U.S. and Israeli data following the emergence of the Omicron variant."
Earlier this month Pfizer asked the FDA to authorize an additional dose of its COVID-19 vaccine. However, the drug maker's application with the FDA only applied to adults 65 and older.
For those interested in becoming vaccinated, there will be a COVID-19 clinic today at the Stamford Dog Park on Courtland Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The mobile vans will also be at the Westfield Trumbull Mall today from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
A pop-up vaccine clinic will also be held at the Connecticut Workers Center on Park Avenue in Bridgeport from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
