Suffolk police say a man has been arrested for robbing an Italian ice shop in Holbrook.
Police say 31-year-old Christopher Ventrice entered the Ralph's Italian Ices on Grundy Avenue at around 10 p.m. Friday. He allegedly told an employee that he had a gun and demanded cash. He then fled on foot.
Suffolk officers responded to the scene, with help from canine and aviation units. A suspicious man on a bicycle who fit Ventrice's description was spotted on Maria Court in Holbrook shortly after the robbery.
When an officer attempted to speak to the man, officials say he jumped off the bike and fled into a backyard. He was found hiding under a pool deck by officers who had help from a police dog, named McClane.
Ventrice was arrested without further incident. Police say he did not have a gun on him at the time of his arrest.
Ventrice, of Holbrook, was charged with first-degree robbery.
