A home invader threatened two small children in North Bellport with a gun Thursday, according to Suffolk police.
An armed home invader might have staked out the home because the father of the two kids, ages 2 and 11, had just left for a walk before the burglar broke in, police said. The man entered the Pace Avenue home through the kitchen window, police said.
Police said the children ran into an empty bedroom, but were followed by the invader. The man then threatened them with the gun and asked where the money was kept, police said. After the invader left, the 11-year-old boy called 911.
Anyone with information on the home invasion is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at (800) 220-TIPS.
