New this morning
A brief round of snow will reduce visibility this morning between 8 AM and 1 PM. Some snow may mix in with rain. Accumulations are expected to be 0.5" or less, but even minor accumulation could create slippery conditions on untreated surfaces.
There's also reduced visibility from freezing fog overnight. An icy glaze is expected on cars and untreated surfaces.
Wintry then wet Tuesday
Monday is very cold but dry with high temperatures only in the upper 20s.
Tuesday is dry to start, but a wintry mix will arrive in the afternoon. A quick coating of snow or ice is possible on Tuesday afternoon before becoming a steady rain in the evening and overnight hours.
Stray rain showers are expected on Wednesday with more widespread rain returning Thursday evening through Friday. Daily rain chances continue into the weekend under generally cloudy skies.
What's Next?
Our mildest temperatures so far this season are on the way for next week. There's a chance we could hit 60 degrees at Islip next week, the first time since November 17th. If we do not hit 60F, it's possible this will be the longest stretch without reaching the milestone on record.
