The 2024 election is a big year and threats are on the rise against poll workers.
Several Democrats pushed a bill on Wednesday to prohibit firearms from areas around polling sites. The proposal also bans online "doxing,” where election workers' home addresses are distributed to millions.
"Election workers have faced a constant stream of death threats, often quite graphic. They've been doxed,” said state Rep. Matt Blumenthal (D-Stamford).
Another bill would ban so-called "deep fake" videos that use artificial intelligence to impersonate politicians.
Videos that are clearly labeled would be allowed.
