Rep. Tom Suozzi's comments about banning transgender girls from girls sports this week caught the attention of local LGBTQ advocates.

Juli Grey-Owens, the executive director of Gender Equality New York, says she went to his office and spoke with a staffer about the comments. Shortly after, she received a call from Rep. Suozzi.

Grey-Owens says the congressman committed to set up a two-hour training session for himself, and his staff in both Washington D.C. and Long Island.

News 12 has confirmed the call took place and that the congressman's office will hold training sessions.
