A congregation in Lawrence held a service Wednesday evening in memory of the victims of the Brussels terror attacks.
Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum, of Temple Israel, dedicated Wednesday night's Purim service to the victims of the Brussels terrorist attacks and their families. He lit two candles symbolizing the two sites where bombs went off -- Brussels' airport and a subway station. At least 31 people were killed and more than 200 wounded in Tuesday's attacks.
Rabbi Rosenbaum says honoring the victims on the Purim holiday holds special meaning because the day celebrates the victory of good over evil in ancient Persia.
Members of Temple Israel say they hope the show of solidarity also sends a message to terrorists -- that they will not bow to fear of terror and they will remain united.
