Congestion pricing plan could be revived
Gov. Hochul says conversations with the federal government on the future of the plan have been ongoing.
Months after Gov. Kathy Hochul paused the state's congestion pricing plan, she is reportedly discussing bringing it back, with changes such as only charging drivers $9 to enter Manhattan's central business district, rather than the $15 toll outlined in the original plan.
This comes after the election of former President Donald Trump, who has openly stated that he is against congestion pricing.
Advocates with Permanent Citizens Advisory Committee to the MTA tell News 12 they're hopeful changes to the original plan won't require a new environmental review.
Local businesses, like On Time Trucking in Farmingdale, says it hopes the governor reconsiders.
They send 20 to 25 trucks into the city every day, and say congestion pricing would drastically affect their business.
