The jury again reviewed conflicting testimony Friday in the samurai sword murder trial of a Hauppauge man.
Prosecutors claim Zachary Gibian, 20, murdered his stepfather Scott Nager in February 2005. Gibian issued a written and videotaped confession the night in question, but retracted his statements and pointed the finger at his mother, Laura Nager, when he took the stand last week. It is that videotape and contrasting testimony the jury poured over Friday.
Nager, a retired NYPD officer, had a $2 million life insurance policy that prosecutors believe Gibian tried to capitalize on. They also say the defendant fought with Nager that night after he tried to kick Gibian out of the house. Gibian says he originally confessed only to protect his mother.
