Riders on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) saw a strong police presence Wednesday in response to the deadly bombing attacks that occurred in India.
A succession of bombs on commuter trains in Mumbai, India killed at least 200 people Tuesday. While most commuters said they would not change their plans for fear of terrorist attacks, many did say safety is always a concern. The most important thing riders say is to be vigilant while taking the trains.
The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) says the attacks in India do not pose a specific threat to the U.S., however, it is not taking any chances. Police are patrolling the platforms of the LIRR and undercover officers are in and around the trains.
