Letters, tears and prayers helped residents reopen a Bronx Catholic school Wednesday that had been in danger of being closed by the Archdiocese last year. The community rallied to save Saint Martin of Tours after they learned it was one of three schools the Archdiocese recommended for closing. People signed petitions, wrote letters and managed to save the school. Our Lady of Solace in Morris Park was not so lucky. That school was slated for closing along with Saint Martin of Tours and did not reopen this year. There are more than 75 Catholic schools in the Bronx.
