A community came together Friday to say their final goodbyes to Zanir Childs, an 18-year-old whose life was cut short by gun violence.
Funeral services were held at Greater Bright Light Baptist Church in East New York.
Droves of mourners wearing black and orange, the orange representing gun violence awareness.
There was a massive police presence at the service.
The fatal shooting happened on May 17. Childs and an 18-year-old teen girl were shot on New Jersey Avenue.
Childs died from his injures and the other victim was left with a gunshot wound to her arm.
Family members told News 12, Childs was just weeks away from graduating from Canarsie High School and add he was an avid football player, was known affectionately as a "ladies" man.
"He's been a big impact on other kids, on teachers, on coaches. He's been a huge impact," said Krystal Childs, Zanir's mother. "This is unfair. I need this kid to be found."
No arrests had been made as of Friday.
