Storm Watch Meteorologist Sam Augeri says potentially heavy rain and strong gusts of wind will move in late Sunday.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
-Flood watch posted for Nassau and Western Suffolk County for late Sunday afternoon through Sunday night with 2 to 3 inches of rain possible.
-High wind watch posted for Long Island for late Sunday afternoon into Sunday night with winds gusting close to 40 mph and isolated gusts up to 60.
-After a nice start to the weekend, showers will arrive Sunday afternoon with the main event late Sunday evening into Sunday night. A front passes by with a line of heavy rainfall and strong winds. Strongest winds and heaviest rainfall will be late Sunday evening through Sunday night. Things should be improving by daybreak Monday.
OVERNIGHT: Partly cloudy with patchy fog. Lows near 39. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Sunrise: 7:05
SATURDAY: Partly sunny and mild with highs near 55. South southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Sunset: 4:25
