Today we are learning about the death of one of the founding fathers of News 12.
Maurice "Reese" Schonfeld teamed up with Ted Turner to create CNN which launched in 1980.
Schonfeld served as the network's first president.
A few years later, the New Jersey native joined Cablevision.
Along with Charles Dolan, they applied CNN's 24-hour news model to create News 12 Long Island, the nation's first 24-hour local television news station.
The success of News 12 Long Island launched News 12 New Jersey and then other sister stations throughout the tri-state area. Reese Schonfeld was 88 years old.
