There's no ifs ands or buts about it, we are in a dry pattern. High pressure wins out for much of the next week.
Usually at this time of September, we see over 4 inches of rain. However, we have around 3 and ¾ inches so far this month.
Drought conditions continue for our borough, with many neighborhoods experiencing a moderate drought.
We need substantial and drenching rainfall, and soon. Otherwise, it sets us up for very dry days that could easily lead to wildfires starting and spreading.
There is plenty of rain in the tropics, with two systems being monitored. Tropical Storm Imelda and Hurricane Umberto continue to churn in the Atlantic, far away from our area.
However, as we head into the next few days, we could feel indirect effects form this, especially along our Atlantic facing beaches.
Rip currents will need to be monitored over the next few days, though current risks are low. Winds and waves will increase over the next few days, leading to potentially dangerous conditions for being on the water.
We will continue to monitor the progression of these storms and how they could impact us, even from so far away.
Temperature wise, we are in another temperature rollercoaster.
Highs for Tuesday cross into the low 80s, with a major change by Wednesday.
Wednesday temps top out at the higher 60s, with lows in the lower 50s.
The end of the week warms up gradually back into the lower 70s, followed by a major temperature rebound into the higher 70s and lower 80s for the weekend.
We might all be done with summer, but it seems that summerlike temperatures are not done with us.
