A chili competition in Ronkonkoma Saturday raised funds to help those impacted by mental illness.
The ninth annual Chili Cook-Off, hosted by the Association for Mental Health and Awareness, featured 21 teams competing to win one of five prizes.
Meat or vegan chili options were provided to attendees. Attendees got to choose their favorite recipes, while a team of judges picked the best chili.
Organizers say the event not only benefits those impacted by mental illness, but also at-risk and homeless veterans.
Performances included live music from The 60s Invasion. There was also a costume contest for children under the age of 10.
