Some Suffolk students are getting a lesson in what it takes to save lives.

Central Islip Fire Capt. Dennis Solares spoke to the student council at Marguerite Mulvey Elementary School.

Solares entered a burning home he was passing back in October, without his gear, and saved two women.

The captain went back to his old school to talk to kids who also want to save lives when they grow up.

Solares tells News 12, "This is why we do it, I would do it all over again. Central Islip Fire Department has always been known for aggressive firefighting tactics and I’m just glad I was one of the ones who was able to carry on that tradition.”

Both victims in that house fire have since recovered.
