An elderly couple was struck by a car and killed after a family member?s rehearsal dinner in Syosset Thursday night.
Police say Phillip Christopher, 74, and his wife Dorothy, 68, of Miller Place, had just left Café Testarossa and were crossing Jericho Turnpike to their car when the incident happened. According to investigators, it was raining heavily when a Toyota Camry driven by 26-year-old Jose Flores struck the couple around 10:45. Phillip died a few hours later, while Dorothy passed away Friday morning.
Authorities say there appears to be no criminal activity in what they are calling a terrible accident. Investigators are unsure why the couple chose to park across the street from the restaurant instead of in the café parking lot.
