Do you still need to wear a mask outside? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it's looking into that question right now.
Current CDC guidelines say masks might not be necessary outside by yourself, away from others, or outdoors with people you live with.
Dr. John Zaso, a pediatrician in East Meadow and a member of the Nassau County Department of Health, says it's appropriate for the CDC to update its guidelines for people who are fully vaccinated. He says people who haven't been vaccinated should still be careful.
"You need to maintain social distancing if you can't be within the 6 feet from each other and you're gonna be on top of each other, then the mask would be appropriate outdoors," Zaso.
Some areas may have mask mandates while out in public. The CDC says masks should still be worn indoors, especially when you're around people who don't live in your house.
People out and about in Eisenhower Park Friday largely told News 12 that they agree with scaling back mask mandates outdoors.
"I feel like if you're vaccinated, fully vaccinated, and you're outside and you're in the wind, you should be OK," says Melissa Banks, of Westbury.
