A Carle Place graduate who is known as one of the best wheelchair basketball players in the world is once again back out on the hardcourt for the first round at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
Steve Serio is a three-time Paralympian and two-time gold medalist. Serio says this year's event will be unlike any other.
Serio says because of COVID-19 precautions the games are definitely not like any other he's been to.
With the pandemic pushing the games back a year, some of his teammates decided to withdraw from the games.
Serio says COVID-19 has shown people that you can't waste a second of life.
Despite having no fans to cheer him on, Serio is ready to go for gold.
