An overnight car window smashing spree in Manorhaven and Port Washington has Nassau County police on the lookout for the vandals.
Police say as many as 40 vehicles were vandalized between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday on back roads in the two areas. Police say they will increase patrols there.
Det. Sgt. Anthony Repalone says it appears the vandals simply went down the lines of cars and smashed windows with a blunt object.
Some residents say damage to their cars will cost as much as $600. Others fear the incident could be the beginning of more to come.
Nassau police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
