Maria Teresa Romero, founder of the nonprofit organization Latina Sister Support, was honored Wednesday.
Her nonprofit works to resolve disparities in access to quality health care and breast cancer awareness among the Hispanic-Latina women and their families.
Romero has funded the nonprofit with her own money and from anonymous donations.
