What if you could walk through your home before it's ever built? That's the idea behind Walk Your Plans Long Island, a West Babylon facility that projects architectural blueprints onto an 1,800-square-foot floor at full scale.
"We take architectural blueprints and project them on our warehouse floor on a 1x1 scale," says owner Michael Vahling. "People have the ability to walk through a scale of their drawings that they are preparing to build."
The idea started with Vahling's own Suffolk County home renovation. After traveling to Ohio to experience the concept, he walked through his plans and realized he wanted to make changes before construction began. "We made some meaningful changes, which saved me thousands of dollars in the long run," Vahling says. "And then inquired about investing in a location here on Long Island."
About a year ago, that became a reality. Now, homeowners can walk through kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms before a single wall goes up. And the concept isn't limited to homes, it can also be used for restaurants, offices and even hospitals.
