Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota says a longtime Town of Islip building inspector has been caught on camera taking bribes.
According to Spota, Charles Martino admits to accepting cash bribes about once a week for the past three or four years. He says the day after former Islip Town Supervisor Pete McGowan pleaded guilty for taking bribes, Martino was caught on tape accepting money and laughing about the fact that McGowan got caught.
Martino is charged with one count of bribe receiving and faces up to four years in prison. He was released after posting his own bail.
