A school bus with workers from the city's Summer Rising program on board flipped over on the Hutchinson River Parkway Thursday morning, backing up traffic and sending dozens to the hospital.
Police say 36 people were in the bus at the time of the accident. No kids were on the bus, and all occupants were adults. Drivers should expect some bus routes to be delayed as a result.
Consolidated Bus Company told News 12 that the bus was taking its employees from Brooklyn to the Bronx because the company provides transportation so that employees don't have to drive their own cars to work.
Officials say the bus was trying to exit the parkway near Exit 1A when the bus turned over. It's still unclear how the bus flipped over, but the company believes the driver may have been cut off.
FDNY says at least 36 people were hurt, with three of them having serious injuries, but the patients are in stable condition.
