School officials at Lindenhurst Middle School say a bullet was found in the boys locker room Friday.
Lindenhurst School Superintendent Daniel Giordano says a student quickly alerted the school's principal. Parents were then called and notified, and a message was posted on the school's website.
The school was briefly locked down Friday due to a separate incident involving a nearby home invasion, police say.
As News 12 has reported, the school received an unspecified threat last week, prompting the staff to sweep lockers and search classrooms. In May, a sixth-grader allegedly showed a flare gun to two kids who attend the school, although police say that took place off campus.
School officials say they don't know who brought the bullet into school, but police are investigating. They do not believe it has any connection to that threat that was made last week. They insist that the school is safe.
