Mechanics are urging Bronx drivers to kick car winterizing into gear to avoid problems as the mercury dips into frigid temperatures.
They advise car owners to check tires for good pressure and adequate tread. Mechanics also say it?s critical to replace old windshield wipers, belts and hoses. Car batteries, which can become less effective in the cold, should be checked by a ?load test? and vehicles should have the correct type of antifreeze.
Mechanics agree taking simple precautions now can stop major car disasters later.
