The future of Brentwood Youth Activities (BYA) is in jeopardy after thousands of dollars went missing from the association?s league funds.
Parents were informed at a BYA general membership meeting last Tuesday night that at least $17,000 was missing from the accounts and the total could be as much as $60,000. Lisa Spence, former vice president of the BYA, says she resigned after learning the money was missing and contacted the District Attorney?s office. Legislator Ricardo Montano (D-Brentwood) is asking the county comptroller to investigate.
News 12 Long Island has also learned that a BYA coach was arrested and charged with molesting a child in March. Parents say they are shocked since the league did not inform them about the incident until this week.
