A Brentwood father was indicted today on a second-degree murder charge in the death of his infant daughter.
Prosecutors say Angelo Deleon, 51, shook his 47-day-old daughter, Genesis, to death in their home on Charter Oaks Avenue in Brentwood back in October.
Police say Deleon violently shook his daughter and didn't call for help for at least one hour after the child stopped breathing.
Deleon's court-appointed attorney says his client maintains his innocence.
"Emphatically in court, he told me a number of times, 'I'm not guilty, I didn't do this,'" said Deleon's attorney, George Duncan.
Deleon has also been charged with reckless assault of a child for a separate incident that allegedly took place a few days before his daughter's death.
Police say Deleon admitted he had shaken the child at least once before.
Deleon is being held on $250,000 bail. He is due back in court Dec. 17.
