A West Babylon balloon designer is soon leaving for the United Kingdom to participate in the ‘Big Balloon Build.”

The event will help create a wonderland with more than 100,000 balloons.

The proceeds go to charity. Karin Capellan said she was “in shock” and didn’t think she was going to be chosen. She is one of dozens picked to attend, beating out hundreds.

Capellan is a flight attendant and during COVID, when many flights were canceled, she said she taught herself how to make balloon creations.

Her business took off, and she does balloons for weddings, birthdays, bridal showers and more.

Capellan said she leaves for England on Dec. 10 and will be there for just under a week.
