Georgia officials have made a significant discovery in a decades-old cold case involving a couple from Westchester.

Charles and Catherine Romer, a couple from Scarsdale, vanished in 1980 after checking into a Holiday Inn in Brunswick, Georgia.

Police have found the wreckage of a car last seen 44 years ago, believed to belong to the missing couple. Human remains, thought to be those of Charles and Catherine Romer, are inside the vehicle.

Investigators are exercising caution as they work to retrieve the remains without compromising potential evidence.
