The passports of two Long Islanders involved in a deadly collision with a Brazilian airliner have finally been released.
Pilots Joseph Lepore, of Bay Shore, and Jan Paladino, of Westhampton Beach, collided with the Gol Airliner over the Amazon in September. All 154 people onboard the 737 were killed. The Long Islanders landed safely.
Lepore and Paladino were being held in Brazil while the government investigated the crash. But Tuesday officials agreed to return their passports on Friday.
