The body of a doctor who was originally from Dix Hills was found in the Florida condo rubble two days ago.
Rabbi Yakov Saacks, of the Chai Center of Dix Hills, says Dr. Gary Cohen was visiting his younger brother Brad when the condo building collapsed.
Rabbi Saacks says Gary would often stay with him and his family when he came back to visit Long Island.
Rabbi Saacks says he spoke with Gary's wife who told him that she can't believe she is a widow. He says it was very heartbreaking.
Gary's funeral is Sunday in Alabama, where he'd been living and working.
"You can't grieve until there's a body to bury, so while it's not the outcome anybody wanted it's much better than the alternative of the waiting game," says Rabbi Saacks.
The Cohen family is still waiting on word of their other son Brad, who is still listed among the missing.
