Police have identified the male body found on a Miller Place beach yesterday.
According to police, the body has been identified as Sidney Valverde, 19, of Queens. Police say Valverde is affiliated with the MS-13 gang.
He was reported missing by his family two weeks ago.
Officers were called to the beach in front of the Miller Beach Surf Club on Harbor Beach Road after a man discovered Valverde's body in the sand.
Authorities say Valverde suffered a severe head injury, but added it is too early to know if his death was gang-related. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
