The first blizzard of 2018 caused some serious erosion and other damage to Southold's Town Beach.
The erosion was enough to make 6 to 7 feet of the beach's parking lot collapse.
Manfred Kuerner, who first came to Southold 60 years ago, says he never saw the erosion this bad before.
"They put so much work into it last year to get it up to snuff and here we are back to the same. Worse even. I've never seen it like this," Kuerner told News 12.
Besides damaging the parking lot, the storm also washed away much of the beach itself. Before the storm, beachgoers were able to walk from the parking lot onto the sand with just a small step down. Now, there's about a 3-foot drop.
Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell says what was left standing in the parking lot "is not usable because it's not stable."
"The first thing we're going to do is bring sand in. [The] Cross Sound Ferry is donating about 2,200 yards like they did last March," says Russell.
He says the town will then begin a long-term solution that could be costly, including installing rocks or a stone wall.
The blizzard also destroyed a small fishing shack that stood for years just east of Town Beach.
