The leftover snow from the weekend blizzard is piled high in some places, creating potentially dangerous situations for drivers and pedestrians.
The pavement is clear for drivers, but lines of sight are blocked by huge piles of snow on the corners of roads, parking lots and apartment complexes.
AAA spokesperson Robert Sinclair Jr. says one of the piles of snow created such a huge blind spot for him as he was trying to leave a parking lot, it makes him worry for his safety and the safety of other drivers.
“I was very much concerned that I might be forced to go out into traffic on this busy roadway having not been able to see what was coming,” Sinclair Jr. says.
He says after backing up and trying to reposition to see around the snow pile and trying to guess when the traffic would be clear, he realized it wasn’t safe and waited for the nearest traffic light to change.
Sinclair Jr. says anyone in a similar situation that doesn’t have a clear line of sight to see oncoming traffic should change their exit strategy.
“If you cannot see, do not attempt to just go out there and hope for the best,” Sinclair Jr. says. “We need to prepare for the worst.”
The piles of snow are getting smaller with the warmer temperatures. With rain later in the week, there could be massive puddles coming in from the melting snow.
