A beloved Orange County family restaurant will close its doors after decades of serving the community and years of fond memories.
After 50 years in business, customers and residents will say their goodbyes to the Cancun Inn in Sugar Loaf.
"We had such an incredible time," says owner Israel Campos.
Friday Karaoke nights were a local hit and so were the tableside magic tricks that Campos happily performed in between serving customers.
After years of fond memories, Campos and his family decided to close.
"It's bittersweet," he says. "My brother and my sister in the kitchen – they say they have enough."
Just as the siblings came to America from Mexico decades ago, they are getting ready to leave the industry together to retire after their mother and brother died during the pandemic.
"The business has been incredible. Talking, laughing, joking with my incredible, incredible customers. I'm going to miss them a lot," Campos says.
The Campos family is in the process of selling the building on Kings Highway and say the new owners will likely keep it as a restaurant.
Until then, the Cancun Inn is still open, for now, Thursday through Sunday for lunch and dinner.
